VPN site-to-site keeps dropping I have a ASA 5520 on 8.4.3 we currently have a VPN connection to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Everything is good except for the VPN tunnel "dropping" The Tunnel stays intact but we no longer have connectivity (pings, trace, remote desktop) access to the Azure environment.

I initially thought that maybe it was because of the lesser known port IP 47 which most people forget about. So i created a rule for IP port 47 under advanced, virtual server. I set it to 'other' protocol and typed in the 47 and pointed that to my local machine. Jul 22, 2015 · I suspect that the VPN tunnel is dropping this often also because of Phase 2 Security Association (SA) Lifetime (Throughput) which should ideally be 102,400,000 KB in this case. The problem has nothing to do with how RDP is setup and has to do primarily with the VPN tunnel. I had this issue myself and the problem was with the tunnel. The troubleshooting needs to be focused there. The VPN tunnel will connect, stay connected for a short amount of time (roughly 5-10 minutes) then drop, it will connect and drop, connect and drop. I have ran a ping trace from a workstation on my LAN to the VPC and you can see very clearly the connection going up and down, however the AWS management consoles status is connected. VPN between 2 netgear routers keeps dropping I have 2 networks that are connnected with a VPN tunnel through 2 Netgear firewalls. One is an FVS318G (firmware 3.3.3-18), the other ons is an SRX(something, can't check right now) 4-WAN box.
